Strata Design, Inc. is proud to announce the company has earned and was awarded FSC Certification in September, 2009. Three months of staff education and testing has paid off for Strata employees and our customers. We are now certified to participate in the supply of materials that have full “chain of custody” certification – from the forest through myriad value-added steps in the manufacturing cycle to final installation in YOUR sustainable building project.
What do you know about, “MATERIALS REUSE”, “CONSTRUCTION WASTE”, and “RECYCLED CONTENT”? Well, “everybody knows” that these are important LEED/Green goals to achieve sustainable building projects. But how are these goals proven? How are these goals measured?
The need for measurable goals is critical to Owners, Architects, and Contractors so that the Owner gets what they have paid for from a level playing field of qualified group of suppliers and subcontractors who are truly committed to providing their parts of a sustainable building.
The Forest Stewardship Council was the first organization to establish measurable goals for wood products. It has evolved the current industry standard, called “FSC Certification”, through chain of custody documentation of the value-added architectural woodwork.
Of course, Strata Design Inc’s support of green initiatives started more than fifteen years ago. Our support of green initiatives grows every year, in the green content of products we manufacture. In addition we also work to expand the “green footprint” of our plant and offices used to produce the green product you want! We think we are ahead of the curve!
